Set in October 2007, "Death of a President" is a future documentary that investigates the circumstances surrounding President George W. Bush's fictional assasination in Chicago. From watching this movie, I actually learned a few things about how the secret service works and some interesting facts about Talaban terrorist training camps ... but I don't go to the movies to learn facts about terrorism ... and if there's a terrorist in a movie, I'd personally like to see Harrison Ford or Bruce Willis shooting them ... or something like that. I'd have to say that, aside from the very unique premise, this movie was largely forgetable. My litmus test is usually this: if I write a review the day after seeing a movie and I can barely remember a thing about it ... it's probably not going to make it into my vanilla scented journal, on the page where I list "my favoritest movies of all time," then rank each of them in descending order, using a system I invented that involves puffy, heart-shaped stickers.

I'll admit that some interesting issues were raised by this film - but no more than would naturally be raised by sitting by yourself for a couple of minutes and pondering the idea of a futuristic documentary of this nature. The idea is intriguing, but actually watching the film doessn't do anything to develop any interest that may have been sparked by the premise. In my opinion, this is a concept-based movie and the concept is interesting enough that it sorta carries the film.

However, I would be lying if I didn't mention that I identified with the filmmaker, since I'm always sitting at my desk and imagining a certain person being shot several times with a high powered rifle. But that person isn't George Bush. Oh, no, it isn't! I'd tell you who it is, but then you'd probably think I'm petty, or something. But, I'll just say this ... the next time Phyllis Kuntz from Accounts Receivable looks at the hem of my pants and asks me if a flood is in the forecast, I'm going straight to human resources to file a complaint! THAT'S HARASSMENT, I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW!

This movie gets 5/10
